The Oxford
BioMedica Annual report
Oxford BioMedica is a publicly listed biopharmaceutical company
(LSE: OXB) specialising in the development of novel gene-based therapeutics
with a focus on oncology and neurotherapy. Northbank was commissioned
in 2004 to design its annual report, having already designed the
previous years report following a realignment of the Company brand.
Objectives
 |
To communicate
how the Company had performed and matured over the past year |
 |
To
make the report stand out from other company annual reports |
 |
To build
on the existing Oxford BioMedica brand and identity |
Methods
 |
To demonstrate
the Company’s maturity it was felt that direct representation
of the technology was no longer required to explain the Company.
It was decided that the design concept should derive from a
more abstract approach |
 |
Various
themes were developed based on different interpretations of
“abstract”, these included the use of illustrations
as metaphors and the use of abstract photography |
 |
The chosen
design theme was based upon a series of abstract artwork, specially
commissioned for the report, representing key aspects of the
Company – the two therapeutic areas, partnerships, intellectual
property and development |
 |
This abstract
theme was supplemented with commissioned black and white photography
of the Company's facilities, people and products to subtly integrate
the science and the personality of the Company |
 |
The
designs were integrated with elements of the corporate brand
and based on the established colour palette to produce a bold
and mature image consistent with the Company brand |
